Stitch a garden

create your own vertical planter

Stitch a garden is a unique way to add plants to a small indoor wall space. You can start an herb garden, or cactus garden. The kit comes with a pattern, the pre cut unpainted dowels, pre- sized cotter pins and a plastic gardening pot.

Fabric needs

  • Fabric: 56” wide = 1/3 yard.
  • Fabric: 45” wide = 1/2 yard.
  • Heavy Interfacing: 9 x 16”

Striped or patterned  fabric:   If you have a vertical striped fabric,  and want a horizontal striped planter, get 1/3 yard of fabric. If you have a vertical striped fabric, and want a vertical striped planter, get 1 yard.

The pattern is most commonly laid out so the north south of the planter is cut out on an east west between salvages on the fabric. Buy the same grade of heavy interfacing, as you would to make a fabric bowl. The sturdier, the better.
